Thrive · For Teams & Organisations
A workshop series for leaders, teams, and organisations who care about sustaining the people who carry the weight. Practical, evidence-informed, and designed for people who are tired of being told to just "take a break."
When leaders thrive, their teams thrive. The research is unambiguous.
A meta-analysis of more than 180 studies found that women are significantly more likely to experience emotional exhaustion than men.1 Women in leadership are pulled in multiple directions at work and at home, and often carry primary caretaking responsibilities at the same time. This emotional exhaustion drives burnout, which in turn lowers organizational productivity and increases turnover.
Leader self-care has a measurable effect on the people around them. A 2022 study published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health found that leader self-care was directly linked to improved leader-employee care, improved employees’ self-care, and improved employees’ health.2 The most senior people in a room set the unspoken rhythm of how rested, regulated, and present everyone else gets to be.
Yet most workplaces still treat self-care as something individuals do alone, after hours, on their own time. Thrive was built to address that gap directly.
I built Thrive because I needed it first. For years, I’d been burning out in cycles that came back too fast to ignore. The way I described it back then: it felt like driving a car with a broken fuel gauge. I couldn’t tell when I was running low, so the warning never came. I’d just stop, completely, in the middle of the road. Empty.
What changed for me wasn’t a single insight. It was learning that I had to actively build self-care into the rhythm of my life. Thrive came out of the work I had to do for myself. It’s the program I wish someone had handed me sooner, built for people who keep being asked to pour, and pour, and pour.
A look at Thrive, developed through the WomenLift Health Leadership Journey (2024 North America Cohort).
Thrive is a three-workshop series, with each workshop building on the next. The format is active and participatory: we don’t just talk about self-care, we practise it together in the room. Grounded in evidence-based research, we work through a range of self-regulation tools including different styles of breathing, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique, or tapping), grounding, and more. We try a lot of things together because there’s no one-size-fits-all answer to burnout. What works for one person won’t work for another, and the only way to know is to test them.
The signature outcome is your Self Care Menu: a personalized set of practices each participant builds and walks away with. Not a wellness plan you stick on the fridge and abandon. A menu of things you’ve actually tried, organized by what fits your life, that you can use day-to-day.
A focused, hands-on session for teams that need a meaningful taster, well suited to offsites, leadership meetings, or a one-off team gathering.
A longer immersion that allows time to practise the tools, build the Self Care Menu, and integrate. Good fit for leadership retreats and team development days.
Three 60–90 minute sessions spread over three weeks. Each session builds on the next, with time between to practise and integrate before we come back together.
Particularly resonant for women in leadership
Research consistently shows that women in leadership carry a disproportionate share of emotional exhaustion. Thrive was originally developed through the WomenLift Health Leadership Journey and remains specifically attuned to those experiences. The practices it teaches are for every leader, of every gender, who keeps being asked to pour.
